Wonder Twins Activate: Your First Website

Drew and I worked on this collaboratively. You get the best of our different experiences in Getting a Website for the First Time. I know that for me, getting one was intimidating at first, and now it is a much easier process.

Basically, there are two steps:
1. Find an available website name
(Remember you are renting this!)
2. Locate a hosting provider
Drew and I run different kinds of websites, so we use a wide spectrum of hosting services (host = location).
I rent many website names and then redirect them to free pages on wikis like AboutUs, or weblog farms such as Blogger and Posterous. These websites offer the opportunity to easily create wiki pages or weblogs. For example, the website domain name MarkDilley.org redirects to my AboutUs personal page.
Drew’s sites need more complex and fully featured hosting services so he can provide forums and eCommerce applications.
Easy peasey! Read on!
